Lacrosse is an integral component of the fabric of Springfield sports. What was once known as a private school only sport has become one of the fastest growing sports in the United States.
The roots of modern lacrosse in the United States can be traced back to the three main "hot beds" of the sport - Long Island, NY - Baltimore, MD and Delaware County, PA. The influence of the lacrosse alumni from these three areas on today's game ripples through the youth, high school, collegiate and professional levels.
Springfield Lacrosse is no exception and has a long line of accomplished alumni that have changed the game, put Springfield Lacrosse in the national spotlight and, more importantly, impacted the youth of Springfield in a positive manner.
Each summer, SCLC will honor exceptional alumni by having the entire club wear that players name and number on its shooting shirts. This honor is known as the "Campbell Alumni Award."
